Costco Wholesale Stepping into Healthcare

The powerful wholesale retailer, Costco, is now offering members online doctors’ visits for as low as $29.

The membership club makes a lions share of its profits from membership fees paid by 125 million people.

This new service is being offered through a partnership with Sesame, a direct-to-consumer healthcare service that connect consumers with medical providers.

With a Costco membership, Sesame users can access $29 virtual primary care visit, $79 virtual mental health therapy visit, $72 health check-up (which includes a standard health panel & consult), as well as an additional 10% off of specialty visits.

A Costco membership costs between $60 to $120 per year.

Sesame is available in all 50 States and Costco members can join this healthcare service today.

“Quality, great value, and low price are what the Costco brand is known for,” David Goldhill, Sesame’s co-founder and CEO, said in a statement. “When it comes to health care, Sesame also delivers high quality and great value – and a low price that will be appreciated by Costco Members when it comes to their own care.”

This isn’t Costco’s first foray into healthcare. Their pharmacy services are open to non-members offering lower prices for your medication compared to other pharmacy brands. According to a comparison by MotleyFool, “When it comes to pricing, Costco has lower prices across the board, including on prescription medications.”

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 27.6 million Americans do not have access to health insurance. This new venture by Costco and Sesame may help shrink that number.
